Background

​

Erica Cole attended Denton ISD from kindergarten (Netty Shultz Elementry, Strickland Middle School, Denton High School) until her graduation as the first graduating class of Ryan High School in 1996. She received both her Masters's and Bachelor's degrees from Texas Woman's University. Ms. Cole has been active in theatre for over 30 years as an actor, designer, and director. Some of her favorite roles and productions have been Aunt Penniman in The Heiress, Gary Coleman in Avenue Q, and Ms. Trunchable in Matilada. Ms. Cole's main focuses in theatre are puppetry, sound design, and devising theatre. 

 

Personal

​

Ms. Cole lives in Denton with her family Dr. Jeffrey Whitt (old), Jacob Cole (25), and Penelope Whitt (6) and their 3 kitties Kitten Baby (the cute one) Balhum (the jerk), and Pokey (the pokey one). Ms. Cole loves all types of art and brings aspects of visual art, music, literature, and performance art into her teaching and productions. She has had so many amazing opportunities afforded to her through the artistic process including participating in the Ednibrough Fringe Festival, attending the Eugene O'Neil National Puppetry Conference, and Sojourn Theatre's Summer Institute for devising and arts-based civic dialogue. Ms. Cole also sings in a band.
