Theatre Director
Background

Ms. Peters a graduate of the DHS theatre program, and went on to major in theatre, work professionally as a costume designer, and an actor, before heading back home to Denton after a few years to pursue her teaching certification at UNT. She has taken on many roles in theatre and film from acting to stage managing, directing, playwriting, costume and prop designing, and working backstage and in the booth. Ms. Peters considers herself a "theatrician" by trade. She believes that our talents and passions are what we have to offer our community, and that an engaging, interactive education is the foundation for bringing those talents and passions to the forefront of our students' minds. Ms. Peters knows that the best way to share her passion for theatre with students is to continue to be involved as an actor, director, designer, and stage manager, and share those experiences with them as they navigate their own artistic journey.
Personal

Ms. Peters is always looking for ways to stay involved in community and regional theatre in any capacity possible, and has served on the production board for Theatre Denton often. She is a student and practitioner of theatrical intimacy direction, with a focus in working with young actors, and is a trauma-informed Certified Yoga Teacher and mediation coach. Her passion for storytelling and learning is how she gives back to her community, whether at school, or in a performance space around town. Ms. Peters has five darling cats: Jon Snow, Arya, Bran, Evanora, and Sansa. Her husband, Kyle, has a not so darling cat called River; he sounds like a raptor (the cat, not the human).
